CAKE CUTTING & SERVING GUIDE

Welcome to our easy peasy cake cutting guide! When the time comes to cut up your cake to serve to your guests it doesn't have to be a daunting task! For all Flourish cakes we recommend using the grid method to achieve your desired servings.

For cutting, your will need a chopping board, a sharp knife and if your want the perfect slice, a jug filled with hot water to clean your knife between slices.

Step One: Remove any extra decorations such as toppers or flowers from your cake. For multi-tiered cakes you will need to separate each tier by lifting the tier on top up to remove itself from the central dowel that runs through the whole structure. Also don't forget to remove the smaller supporting dowels that are found in the bottom tiers!

Step Two: Sit your chopping board vertically up next to the side of your cake. Now thinking of a grid cut your first large slice all the way from top to bottom (edge of the grid) and let your slice lightly lay onto your chopping board.

Step Three: Once you have set you chopping board down, cut your large slice vertically into smaller rectangular slices at your desired size (dessert slice or coffee slice). For taller custom cakes you need to cut your large slice vertically and then horizontally to get your serving numbers. Continue this process and enjoy your cake!
